The focus on Literacy and education has
grown over the years. Children attend the Day Centre initially out of
curiousity. A day of activities includes encouraging and interest in
literacy.
Non Fornal:
If the child continues to attend the day
center, unique non-formal educational methods are used to teach them
eye-hand control, pattern drawing, and numeracy. Finally our social
workers liaise with local
schools when the child is ready.
Formal:
Local schooling begins with access to
Municipal schools. While offering a low standard of education, they make
allowances for non attendance and the initial problems that the move from
the street to formal school entails. If the child is able to sustain her
educational development, we arrange admission to Private schools. Those
children who have been enrolled in formal schools by us are given
additional tutoring by our volunteers. |
